Corona Virus - Covid-19 Update

The Queen's Head opened on Monday 6th July with restricted hours.  Our hours will be as outlined below until the Covid 19 crisis is over.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Monday Midday - 9.00pm

Tuesday  Midday - 9.00pm

Wednesday  Midday - 9.00pm

Thursday  Midday - 10.00pm

Friday  Midday - 10.00pm

Saturday  Midday - 10.00pm

Sunday  Midday - 9.00pm

Full Covid 19 prevention procedures will be in place, and all customers will be required to follow these.  We are not taking reservations, first come first served. All customers must provide details of their name and mobile phone number on our QR code system.  Customers inside the pub (Tier 2 restrictions) must complete a form to confirm that they all come from the same household. These details will be retained for 21 days as part of track and trace requirements. Opening hours will be published on Thursday each week for the first 16 weeks after opening.  All customers must be seated as 'vertical' drinking is not permitted under the regulations, and unfortunately once all available seats are taken, we will not be able to serve any more customers, until seats become available.  These measures are challenging and new to all of us, but necessary to protect our staff and customers, their families at home and colleagues in the workplace. We look forward to welcoming you all back to our historic pub with its great beers, pizzas and atmosphere.

History

The Queen's Head is Pinner's oldest Inn and steeped in History.  Records show that there has been an Inn on the site since 1540, although there is a theory that there was an Ale house on the site here when King Edward III signed the Royal Charter to create Pinner's annual fair in 1336. We know for certain that our cellars are 12th century. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Inn was called The Crown; only in 1715 was it renamed The Queen's Head. In 1872, Eleanor, the daughter of Horatio Nelson, Nelson's only daughter, was killed by a bolting horse outside The Queen's Head. She was unmarried and predeceased her mother. It is said that her benevolent ghost still roams the rooms of the pub. Both Eleanor and Horatia are buried locally.  If you click on History and Conservation you will be taken to two very informative documents about our past.

Facilities

We are a dog friendly pub, and small dogs under their owners control are most welcome. We even supply dog biscuits and water bowls on request. Please ensure that dogs are on a lead and supervised at all times. The Queen's Head has a large car park at the rear which is free to guests who have registered at the bar when making a purchase.  We have free Wi-Fi and mobile phone charging.  The pub is also fitted with a loop sysytem for the hard of hearing enabled by setting a hearing aid to the 'T' setting.

We are the first pub in the area to have electric car charging in the car park and dedicated cycle parking. Well behaved children supervised by their parents are very welcome until 7.30pm. at the managers discretion.  We also have a large heated garden which is in use throughout the year, The garden has its own bar which is open from April to October on Friday and Saturday nights from 7.30pm to 11.00pm.  The garden bar serves a full range of wines, spirits, bottled beers and Guinness and Hophouse 13 on draught.

Our Staff

We are very proud of our highly trained staff. As an ethical employer, we pay 15% above the upper end of the London living wage, plus private health care, private pension, free travel, complimentary food,  perkbox, and regular training. 4 of our staff are doing NVQ courses in Hospitality and 3 are license holders.  We use EGM to do our Mystery Shopper reports, and these are done 4 times a year. If you click on 'mystery shopper' report you will see our latest report.

Our Cellar

We are extremely proud of the accolades we receive for the condition of our ales and lagers. This is in part due to the comprehensive cleaning  programme undertaken by Heineken UK every Monday morning. This involves using copious amounts of water to flush the lines through, then a special line cleaner, followed by even more copious amounts of water to complete the task.

Events

In order to maintain social distancing and to comply with covid 19 prevention procedures we will not be hosting any events until further notice.
